M.Ed. and Parent Coaching Institute™ Certified Parent Coach®
Kay's Media Information
Over 20 years of experience in higher education providing advising to students and their families.
Additional experience as a classroom paraprofessional in a priority school district in Connecticut.
I enjoy helping parents who seek to:
-
move from the challenges that exist to sustainable solutions;
-
best guide their student to make the most of his or her educational and life experiences;
-
worry less and reduce family stress;
-
provide their student with opportunities to grow his or her independence;
-
gain new parenting approaches to develop an adult-to-adult relationship with their child.
Effective parenting is truly the art of pairing both freedom and support.
I have an extensive understanding of family dynamics and a deep knowledge of student development in the teen through early adult years. While coaching individuals with children of all ages -- and presenting parent education programs, I am continuously learning about the concerns and challenges that families experience as they send their children to college and parent through the teen and college years. I have personal parenting experience with divorce and blended families. I am the parent of a 14 year old daughter, who is an athlete, and I guided my stepson through the college process.
